The Burmese is a shorthaired and
elegant but muscular cat of foreign type. The glossy coat and colours is a distinct
feature of the breed created by its slightly pointed coat pattern. A blunted wedge shaped
head with ears following the outline of the face. Wide cheekbones and strong lower jaw. An
active and friendly cat. |

| HEAD |
| Short wedge, wide at
the cheek bones tapering to a blunt muzzle. Slightly rounded top of head.Wide at jaw hinge
with a strong chin. |

| EARS |
| Medium in size,
broad at base with slightly rounded tips. Set wide apart with outer line continuing the
upper part of face. In profile ears have a slight forward tilt. |

| EYES |
| Large and set wide
apart. The top line of the eyes is straight with slight oriental slant toward the nose,
the lower line being rounded.Colour: Lustrous, all shades of yellow accepted. |

| BODY |
| Medium length and
size. Muscular and compact, heavier than its appearance indicates. Chest strong and
rounded in profile, back straight. |

| LEGS |
| Rather slender and
in proportion to the body. |

| TAIL |
| Medium length,
straight, not heavy at base, tapering only slightly to a rounded tip. |

Short, fine and
close-lying with a satin-like texture. |

| COLOUR |
| Evenness is most
desirable. Underparts will be paler. Face and ears may be slightly darker.Note: In young
cats allowance should be made for faint barring and a paler colour. |
