DEVON REX
DRX
The Devon Rex is a cat of unique appearance. The large eyes, low set large ears, short muzzle and prominent cheekbones creates the characteristic "pixie" look. Coat is short and wavy. A muscular cat of foreign type. The Devon Rex is inquisitive and playful by nature.
HEAD
Short wedge. Forehead curving back to a flat skull. Prominent cheekbones.
Strong chin and whisker break.
Whiskers and eyebrows, if present, are rather coarse and brittle.
NOSE
Short, with rounded forehead giving the impression of a stop.
EARS
Very large, very wide at base, tapering to rounded tips. Set low on head and covered with fine hair with or without tufts.
EYES
Large, full and almond in shape. Set well apart. Bright, clear and pure in colour.
(All colours acceptable.)
BODY
Medium length and size, hard and muscular with a broad chest.
LEGS
Medium length and slender.
PAWS
Small and oval.
TAIL
Long and tapering, well covered with short wavy hair.
COAT Short and fine; soft and wavy, with or without guard hairs.
Note: Many Devons have only down on the underparts and this should not be interpreted as bareness.
COLOUR
All colours and patterns are permitted, including those with white.
Any amount of white permitted.
FAULTS
Oriental or British type.
Small or high set ears.
Lack of firm muscles.
Short, bare or bushy tail.
Shaggy coat or lack of waves.
Bare patches - a fault in kittens, in adults a serious fault.
